Money from medical research might seem an odd idea but just consider the reality. Developing new drugs often takes many years. Part of the process is conducting clinical trials to ensure that the drugs are completely safe and there are no unexpected side effects or adverse reactions. The trials are government licensed and conducted under strict medical supervision.

Drug researchers are always looking for fit volunteers in all age groups - often up to the age of 80 years - to assist in trials which may involve a short visit to their test centres - sometimes for a few days - or be conducted at home under the supervision of your GP. Much of the testing is blind, where half the trialists receive placebos which are 'dummy' or non active medicines - the trialists are not told what they are receiving so they report any effects or perceived effects regardless.

Research houses do pay the trialists, hence the idea of money from medical research, so this in one area where some useful money can be earned although obviously, not on a regular basis. The good thing is that you will know you have been instrumental in helping others although they will never know the part you helped play in the development of safe medication.
