Earning with AmazonEarning with Amazon affiliate marketing
Earning with Amazon affiliate marketing is simple, so once you have your web-site built and you have some decent, interesting content written and visitors have started coming to the site, you can start generating your second income stream. First step to moneymaking will probably have been AdSense - see our separate section - but the next big one should be bookselling. This is where people's eyes start to glaze over - Bookselling? surely people stopped buying books once they discovered computors and the Internet? Quite the reverse in fact, the Internet now drives book sales like never before and this is where earning with Amazon becomes a reality . Every new operating system, every new piece of software is released with a fanfare of trumpets for all the essential 'How to Do it' books which will help us understand how to use it. Indeed, it sometimes seems that the people who write the original manufacturers instruction manuals are too close to the product and no longer understand how people 'in the real world' work. A pet hobby horse of mine which we had best leave in the stable for now! Sufficient to say that there are a lot of new books out there and they make it possible to earn with Amazon in ways which would have been impossible before. There are books on every subject under the sun, fiction, non fiction, some in between even. There are new releases, back releases, out of print books, used books and so on. Indeed, it is doubtful if you can find a subject which isn't covered by the written word. So what? you may be thinking - I don't have any books for sale and even if I did, I wouldn't want the hassle of packing and posting them off. Fine, but what you do have are readers - potential customers and this is where you earn fith Amazon affiliate marketing! Whichever and whatever subject or subjects, you have built your new niche site around, you have readers interested in the information on those pages and in your viewpoint and opinions. So this is how you go about it. Firstly, you sign up for an affiliate account with Amazon - here we are probably talking about earning with Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com, depending on which side of the pond you are reading this. There are other companies but let's start with the big one! Now you do need to have your site up and running before you can apply, and they will look at it before accepting you. However; it isn't that difficult to get in and and once you have been accepted it gives your site some credibility and a nice little earner!
What you do on your content pages is to include appropriate references and recommendations for suitable books. If you are discussing technical matters there will be classic reference books just as there will be new sports bios for the sports page. Always new releases on hobbies, self improvement and so on. Like I said, books for every subject! Amazon will provide you with little snippets of code which you just 'copy & paste' onto your pages. The code opens into adverts complete with book cover images. Your readers can click onto the adverts to read more about the books and they then order direct and you earn from Amazon who arrange delivery direct. You are completely 'hands off' on the deal. You can also build context sensitive links into your pages. I have included examples of both so you can see the difference. The code you pasted into your pages contains a unique affiliate reference number (yours) which Amazon uses to identify which web-site the customer came from and how much you have earned. They will then credit you with commission on the deal. Elegant! More good news? Amazon now sell many more things than books, so your earnings from Amazon can come from a whole range of goods from your site, using that same unique affiliate reference code. Indeed, your site can become a state of the art retailer without carrying any stock and without taking any financial risk - now that can't be bad........... A word of caution. Although earning from Amazon is an elegant business model which will provide you with a whole range of products and a very useful income; never be dependent on a single revenue stream. What you want is a 'bomb proof' web-site so look to joining a few good affiliate schemes. AdSense should be your first priority, probably followed by Amazon, then by one or two specialist schemes which will best reflect or enhance your niche theme.
